It may not feel like it, but spring is just around the corner and with it comes a whole new wardrobe of opportunity. And this season it seems like just about anything goes, from smart to casual, bold colours to pastels and heels and flats – it’s a sartorial free for all!
Here are just some of the highlights and must-haves.
Cheeky chic
This spring, the emphasis is on relaxed, yet elegant, styles that combine comfort with style. Oversized blazers and tailored trousers are still a thing, with this season paired with breezy blouses in linen or organic cotton. Try the wide, tailored trouser like the beige ones in H&M at £29.99 or a White Relaxed Blazer from Next for £47.
Barrel legged jeans are also still a hit this season, with just about every fashion store featuring them, from M&S to River Island. Also bang on trend are the wide Palazzo jeans like the ones in New Look for £44.99.
Boho chic
So on the one hand women’s fashion is all about the tailoring, on the other boho vibes are making a comeback this spring. Printed, flowing dresses with crochet detailing - and fringes – will be featured this season. Like this Piper Floral Print Midi Dress in green from Monsoon.
Colours: Pastels, Earthy Hues, and Bold Pops
Spring 2025’s colour palette is a complete mix of soft pastels, earthy tones and bright pops of colour. So as well as soft lavender, pale mint, and dusty rose, we will be seeing vibrant tangerine, electric blue, and cherry red. Check out this cotton rich Textured Tipped Detail Jumper £35 in scarlet from M&S, channelling another fashion statement this season – the preppy look.
Checks and preps
Men’s fashion is following similar trends to women. Patterns – particularly checks – floral shirts, and definitely the preppy look with bomber jackets paired with pastel polo shirts.
Like an Aviator jacket from Jack and Jones at £65, this pastel Elm Light Teal Polo Shirt from Fatface £32.50 or a College Bomber Jacket from Superdry £124.99.
Don’t forget that as we head into wedding season, men will be looking for something a bit more tailored and the good news is that heritage suits are back. Like this dark green check tweed suit at £159 from Slaters.
