Christmas is in the air – literally!

The festive spirit isn’t just about twinkling lights and shopping bags brimming with gifts – it’s about the magical scents that make this season truly special.

From cosy candles to seasonal spices, let’s sniff out some of the festive cheer in the air at Festival Place by taking you through the 12 Scents of Christmas...

1. Putting on the spritz

You'll have a very Merry Spritzmas at the Perfume Shop, where you’ll find everything from a classic Chanel No 5 to the latest must-have aftershave. There are great gift sets, too, like this dazzling Rabanne gift set (£69) that includes Phantom Eau de Toilette, a deodorant spray and travel spray.

2. Warming Rituals

Fill your home with the scents of the festive season, as Rituals wraps us in warm winter aromatics. Choose from soothing shower gels and indulgent body creams, or gorgeous home perfumes like this warming, rich and smoky Ritual of Oudh (£37.90).

3. Candy crush

Step into Lush and be greeted with a sweet explosion of festive fragrance. Their handmade bath bombs and soaps smell like Christmas magic – enjoy peak bathtime bubbles with a slice of the iconic spun-sugar Snow Fairy Bubble Mountain Bubble Bar (£5.63). Treat your friends, or stock up for those pampering winter evenings.

4. Seasonal scentsations

Warm vanilla, spiced black musk, ginger or orange, The Body Shop’s seasonal collections are a Christmas staple. Their ethically sourced, cruelty-free products make perfect stocking fillers – instead of putting a traditional satsuma in the toe, why not replace it with a Satsuma Shower Gel (£8)?

5. Worlds of wonder

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a fragranced candle – wherever you are in the world. Yankee Candle brings scents from all over the globe into your home this Christmas, whether it’s a Parisian Holiday Brunch, a Munich Christmas Market, a North Pole Hideaway, a Big Apple Christmas, or a London Christmas Tea with aromas of ginger, black tea and cinnamon woods. Each large candle jar costs £29.99.

6. Festive coffee buzz

The aroma of freshly brewed Christmas coffees from Festival Place’s great range of cafes is irresistible. From peppermint mochas to gingerbread lattes and caramel nutcracker hot chocolates – you’ll find Christmas in a cup whichever you choose!

7. Sweet dreams

The sugary scent of old-fashioned sweet shops never gets old. From sherbet lemons to chocolate-coated candies, Mr Simms is pure nostalgia in glass jars. Explore the Christmas collection here.

8. Warm chocolate cheer

Step inside Hotel Chocolat, and the rich, velvety aroma of cocoa will transport you to a winter wonderland. Their festive boxes make perfect gifts (if you can resist eating them yourself!). The Classic Christmas Sleekster (£29.95) includes comforting classics and seasonal recipes from Hazelnut Praline to Caramel Clementine Supernova.

9. M&S brings it to the table

Think delicious wafts of spiced mince pies and roasted chestnuts and you’ve got the wonder of the M&S Christmas food selection. Their festive range is perfect for those hosting Christmas – or just indulging. Check out their festive range here.

10. Spice it up

Balance all the indulgence with the nutty, fruity, spicy aromas at Grape Tree. Dried fruits and festive nuts make for tasty and healthy festive treats that are naturally good for you. Find everything from diced crystallised pineapple to roasted, salted pistachios.

11. Do the twist

There’s nothing like the warm, buttery scent of Auntie Anne’s world-famous hand-rolled pretzels, baked fresh every day. Sweet cinnamon or salty classic, these treats will take your nose and taste buds to cloud nine.

12. Dining delights

The sizzling scent of dishes from Festival Square’s restaurants are almost impossible to resist – especially at Christmas. Whether it’s a taste of France at Cote, Africa at Afrizi, Mexico at El Bigote or Asia at Chopstix, our fantastic restaurants have treats from around the globe to see you through the festive season.
